New Small Business Wiki
In the tradition of Wikipedia, we now have a wiki just for the small business community. You can find it over at an easy-to-remember URL: SmallBusiness.com.
Anyone can contribute to it (spammers, don’t get any crazy ideas, because it is being policed). You can write a guide on a particular subject of interest to small businesses or contribute to existing articles.
If you happen to have a small business blog, be sure to add yours to the Directory of Small Business Weblogs. It is one more place for your blog to be found on the Web. I’m told individual blogs will be featured on the home page of smallbusiness.com on a rotating basis.
The wiki is just getting off the ground, so it needs contributions. As the person behind it, Rex Hammock, writes, it is all about participation and conversation:
“Other than me, Rex Hammock, there are no authority figures at smallbusiness.com. While this site is owned and operated by Hammock Publishing, Inc. (http://www.hammock.com), it is designed to be a participatory project in which a community of users (you) share with one another the knowledge needed to start and operate a small business. For years, I’ve been calling this conversational media. For Smallbusiness.com, Hammock Publishing is not ‘creating content,’ rather we are seeking to amplify the voices of small business bloggers and others who want to share their knowledge with others. And this site is here to help you find the existing (and constantly growing) information for small business owners and managers found on the Web from a wide array of sources.”
Ok, so go participate!
P.S., Rex is going to be our featured guest on the next broadcast of Small Business Trends Radio on Tuesday, February 14, 2005, at 1:00 PM Eastern U.S. time.
UPDATE: Go here to listen to the archived show with Rex Hammock talking about how to network like a master.

[...] I’m a great fan of Wiki technology. Anita Campbell tipped me off to a new wiki resource aimed at Small Business, where she is a major contributor. The site is owned and operated by Rex Hammock of Hammock Publishing. There’s a lot of useful material there, and it will obviously grow and develop with the community of small business contributors that are already on board. It’s well worth checking out. This is a fantastic resource — and long in coming. Great work by Rex Hammock. (and how in the heck did he land that URL?..ha!).

Yes, it is a great URL, isn’t it? He has had it for a number of years now.
He told me he launched a site way back when in the dotcom boom days, but after the crash took it down. He now put the wiki in its place.
