The Connection Between Business Podcasts and Running

Jack Yoest, who has started doing some guest writing for Small Business Trends, points out the connection between running and radio and podcasts.

He writes over at our sister site for our Radio show about how so many of us multi-task, and running is a popular time to listen to business podcasts:

“Runners are listening to podcasts on small businesses, doing business. I’m learning Mandarin while the miles go by. Brad Feld, venture capitalist, is a regular runner with headphones piping in podcasts, and not just when he’s a guest.

For your next workout run, take a podcast.”

Read the whole thing — it is quite entertaining and you get to see Jack doing his running.

Someone the other day asked me, “I hear about all these podcasts, but does anyone actually listen to them? And when — exactly — do people listen to business podcasts?”

Jack’s post answers part of it: they listen while out running or exercising. The connection between exercise and business podcasts is an important one for businesses to remember when advertising. And while we may think of running as a consumer activity, remember that runners have to work for a living, too. They just might be listening to business content.
