Tips for Promoting Your Site — 99 of Them
Yesterday I reported on 57 word-of-mouth marketing tactics, by Ron McDaniel the CEO of Buzzoodle, an online marketing firm.
Today, it’s 99 ways to brand on the cheap, brought to you by Rich at Aviva Directory.
The 99 ways consist of a long article that lists, well, 99 ways to promote your site, especially a blog. It’s not so much about branding as it is about a variety of useful small business marketing techniques.
You’ve probably seen many of the techniques before, but it is helpful to have them all in one place.
And you are bound to find a few nuggets you may not be aware of or may not yet have tried. For instance, here is one small business tip that you rarely see mentioned anywhere:
28. Get listed on local authority websites. Many cities will have a large, centrally operated online business directory. A link from a local government site (.gov) will boost your visibility and build your search engine rankings. Often that requires no more effort than doing a GoogleSearch for “(your city) business directory” and emailing the webmaster.

The days of setting up shop and automatically getting traffic just by being online are over. [...]
