Lead Generation Tips Courtesy of U.S.Postal Service

Virtual Impact by US Postal ServiceThe U.S. Postal Service offers an email newsletter for small business owners, called Virtual impact. I recently wrote a short piece for the newsletter, offering four quick marketing plays you can do online, including:

(1) Budget Wisely for Paid Search: Go for the No. 3 position for paid search terms — it’s cheaper and the results are just as good as the #1 spot.

(2) Use Inexpensive Press Releases: Press releases today are search engine plays, so be sure to distribute them online through sites such as PRWeb.com.

(3) Write from Readers’ Perspectives: Everyone tells you to write keyword-rich text for your website. But more than that you should walk in your ideal customer’s shoes and choose non-obvious keywords.

(4) Develop a House List: An email list is a great way to establish an ongoing relationship with visitors.

Read the Virtual Impact newsletter.

Also, if you haven’t been to the U.S. Postal Service website recently, you really should check it out. There is a lot you can do using the website without leaving your office. You can calculate and print postage, of course. But you can also create direct mail campaigns right from your computer. You can even find market research about using direct mail.

  1. I find the USPS website extremely useful and am thankful for the services they provide. Thanks for informing me of their newsletter.

  2. That is an excellent idea offered by the USPS. Get a customer hooked on one product and that gets them interested in other products. A good product line integration tries to get customers to use as many products as possible.

  3. I too find the USPS website very useful. I print all of my daily shipping labels online and take advantage of their FREE boxes! Not having to purchase boxes saves me lots of precious time & money.
