The Ultimate Small Business Twitter List Has Grown

Follow Small Business Trends on TwitterPreviously, I took on the impossible task of composing a list of key voices on Twitter who regularly address small business issues.

Following our initial publishing of the list, we got a ton of suggestions for people to add (thank you!).

We’ve now expanded the list — pretty dramatically.

It will never be a complete list.  There are just too many great voices about small businesses, now on Twitter.  And new people keep joining everyday.

But at least it’s a start.  I hope it will give you a head start to find others to follow on Twitter, and add to your own follower list.  From there you can discover new people on your own, and expand your list.

So – consider the list a starting point — NOT the ending point.

Check out the expanded small business Twitter list.

  1. Great expanded list! Talking about list, here is another list:

“14 Twitter directories to find new friends” – Webware – CNet News. http://jeetiil.notlong.com

Awesome list. Now I will have to go thru it again and make sure I’m not missing anyone. Thanks for sharing this. :)

I sent an @ reply on Twitter, but I’m not sure if it got through. Is the list updated this month (March) or is the list the same as posted in January?

The link in this post points to the January post – it wasn’t clear when the list was updated.

  4. Nice list. I’d also recommend following Frank Kern (@masscontrolkern). He’ll occasionally link to a video he’s made, but he’s mainly just an interesting marketer to follow.

    BTW I love your blog!

  6. Hi Deborah, Thanks for pointing out that we should clarify when the list was last updated, right on the list itself.

Yes, the list was updated just this past week (March 2009). I’ve edited the original to indicate the last update time.

    Thanks for the great suggestion!

    Hey Anita,
Now what we all need is a tool (and I thought I saw one out there) that let’s you put a keyword search within your personal “Twitter River” then into an RSS feed, specifically by that keyword, so you can break down the river into manageable streams. And if we can’t make it a stream, then we better start building Twitter White Water Kayaks so we can manage the flow!!

I didn’t find the tool I tried a few weeks ago, but i did find this post by Eric Berlin at WebWorkerDaily:
    http://webworkerdaily.com/2009/03/04/tracking-twitter-by-topic-whats-the-best-solution/
Some great ideas for managing the flow at Eric’s post and the links out of his post are good, too.

And, of course, you can create RSS feeds from Twitter already with search terms, but I was hunting for the searches within my network of Twi…what? ;-) That is the problem with Twitter — how do you refer to your buddies? Calling them Twits or Tweeters or Twitterers are all non-starters.

We need super cartoonist Mark Anderson to demystify this!!!

  8. Just how good is Twitter in hekping a small business get the word out there?
