I purchased the 1TB version of this product just today and I sadly found that the drive DOES NOT have 1TB capacity. fdisk shows that it only can handle 930GB. That’s 70GB short of 1TB. I’m very angry about this.

The idea is great. The reality is that it will not back up files that have a long path or file name. It skipped 55 files on my laptop. These are file names that Windows XP has no problem with. I talked to Hp customer service and they say; “that’s the way it is”. Their solution is that I should shorten the file names. If the operating system has no problem with the name, the backup drive should also accept it. Is that asking too much?

I certainly hope there is an option to install software and do scheduled back-ups. Software on the drive seems like a pretty good idea, however.
