Calling In Sick

Calling In Sick: Err, Lazy?

Cartoonists are problem solvers. It’s an odd job with strange challenges.

What do corporate zombies look like?

Why would a dog ride a motorcycle?

French horns playing baseball?!

We’re always looking for a unique take, a novel approach. So when a co-worker once confided that management was suspicious of his traditional Friday “illnesses,” I suggested he stop calling in sick – and just start calling in lazy.

OK, so maybe it wasn’t the sympathy he was looking for, but I did get a good cartoon out of it!

  1. Great one, Mark. This sounds like the bumper sticker I saw that said something like, “I used up all my sick days, so I’m calling in Dead.” I think this one is better.

  2. Funny stuff, I always love their expressions. You’re right TJ, it would make a good bumper sticker or even a t-shirt.

  3. What a great post. Maybe your friend could make a bumper sticker out of and then just quit!

  8. This is a phenomena you see in Sweden. Try to call someone on a Friday afternoon. They are in a “meeting” outside the office, e.g. going home early.

  9. That’s a trend I can get behind!
