Finding Some Jiggle Room
I keep a list of jargon that I run across while reading, listening to the radio or watching TV. It’s not all brand-new, shiny words, although I do watch for those, but mainly phrases that we take for granted.
Every so often I take it out and see if anything strikes me. For the above cartoon, it was the phrase “wiggle room,” as in, “Is there any wiggle room?”
Then I let my mind wander and see what turns up: The Wiggles, worms, Piggly Wiggly … but I ended up landing on “jiggle,” expanded it to “jiggle room,” and a cartoon was born.

I wonder if “jiggle room” is a phrase used at the Jello corporation or Weight Watchers!
