Washington Trust Announces “I Luv RI” Campaign to Support Local Businesses

Westerly, Rhode Island (PRESS RELEASE – July 31, 2011) – The Washington Trust Company, the state’s largest independent bank, understands what it takes to build a successful business in Rhode Island and is dedicated to investing in the state’s economy. As part of this commitment, the Bank has announced its “I Luv RI” campaign, featuring an exclusive “I Luv RI” Facebook page and website www.iluvri.com, and is partnering with local businesses and organizations to celebrate what’s great about the Ocean State.

“Washington Trust was founded in Rhode Island in 1800, so we understand the important role local business plays in the Rhode Island economy,” stated Joseph J. MarcAurele, Washington Trust Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. “The “I Luv RI” campaign allows us to further lend support to local businesses by offering a venue where they can promote their services,” continued MarcAurele. “There are many wonderful things to experience in this great state and we want folks to take advantage of everything we have to offer.”

All Washington Trust business customers, and those interested in partnering with the Bank, are invited to take part in the campaign, which features displays and digital advertising in the Bank’s branch offices, as well as on the Bank’s “I Luv RI” Facebook page and website at www.iluvri.com. The website connects to a Facebook page that offers businesses free promotional opportunities, including monthly coupons, business spotlights, and networking on the “I Luv RI” Facebook wall. The website and Facebook sites will also engage visitors by offering a photo gallery, trivia, event listings, and fun facts about the smallest state in the union. Facebook Fans may also participate in “I Luv RI” merchandise giveaways and contests.

At tonight’s “Best of Rhode Island” event at Providence Performing Arts Center, Washington Trust will announce a partnership with Rhode Island Monthly for an “I Luv RI” photo contest. People are invited to submit their favorite Rhode Island photo on the “I Luv RI” Facebook page for a chance to have it published in a 2012 monthly issue of Rhode Island Monthly. Monthly photo winners also receive an “I Luv RI” gift basket, and one of twelve special Rhode Island experiences, including stays at Watch Hill’s Ocean House resort, The Chanler at Cliff Walk in Newport, as well as exclusive ticket packages to Trinity Rep, Rhode Island Philharmonic and more.

The campaign also features a number of signature events which will appear on the “I Luv RI” Facebook page in the upcoming months aimed at highlighting what makes Rhode Island a great place to live and do business. On August 22nd, celebrate Washington Trust’s 211th birthday with discounts at Roger Williams Park Zoo; October 7th, opening night the PBruins kicking off their 20th Anniversary Season at the Dunkin Donuts Center; December 23rd, don’t miss Rhode Island’s biggest in-state basketball rivalry as the PC Friars take on the URI Rams at the Ryan Center.
