The Invisible Hand of the Market

business cartoon

I’m no financial guru, but I think I understand the whole self-regulating concept of the “invisible hand of the market.” That being said, it has to be the goofiest phrase in all of business. Honestly, change “market” to “lighthouse,” and you’ve got a Scooby-Doo episode.

“Like, zoinks, Velma, look out! The Invisible Hand is right behind you, man!”

For a while there I couldn’t browse the business section without seeing the invisible hand pop up at least once a day, but sadly, its buzzword-worthiness seems to be waning lately. That’s a real shame, because making cartoons about it is almost too easy.

  1. Mark,

I want to use this cartoon next time I wrote a post on economics. Maybe the Adam Smith Institute could be interested in getting your cartoon?
