  1. It’s a good starting point, but I think as long as people are posting meaningful content across their social networks that identifies them accurately as a brand, they’re moving in the right direction. Brand understanding is part of the problem with most small businesses.

  2. Social media in general is a time suck, and for small businesses just starting out, it’s doubly so. Liked The Sales Lion post.

  3. Thanks for referencing my article about blogging! Social Media is an essential media for any serious professional. Finding ways to integrate it, use and leverage it can make or break the success of business. Make the time or hire someone to help you. Don’t ignore it and complain about it cause that will not change it’s significance.

  4. It’s incredibly important for a small business to define a few clear goals relative to using social media. Too many businesses just start aimlessly using social media without a plan.

Once you have a plan, determine what success looks like and, most importantly, how you’ll measure the success of your efforts.

Feedback is critical and without it, you greatly increase the risk of creating another “time suck” that is detrimental to your business.

  5. BizBrag makes it pretty easy to maintain a social presence without spending too much time and effort. It’s definitely worth a try.
