This book isn’t for everyone.  It’s targeted to people who are either employed and looking for an added revenue stream or for those looking to start a new business but aren’t quite sure which type of business is best for them.

If that sounds like you, then you won’t be disappointed in Micro-Entrepreneurship for Dummies by Paul Mladjenovic (@PaulMlad).

Mladjenovic calls himself a “raving capitalist” for two reasons.  He comes from the former Yugoslavia (a communist country) and is passionate about people having the freedom to pursue their dreams. He feels that everyone has a capitalist inside of them if they are committed to providing products or services that others want or need.

This book is written in that passionate spirit of making a difference in the world while building your own income and generating wealth. It’s what he calls a true win-win situation.

Inside Micro-Entrepreneurship for Dummies

Like all the “Dummies” books, this one is thorough.  It is divided into five parts and contains twenty-three chapters across about 340 pages.  It’s substantial.

Part 1: Getting Started with Entrepreneurship Contains the Foundation

This will give you all the definitions you will need to get started. What is micro-entrepreneurship, figuring out if being an entrepreneur is a good idea for you, getting to know yourself as an entrepreneur, etc.

Part 2: Finding Great Micro-Entrepreneurship Ideas

I think that this is my favorite section in the book.  If you currently don’t have a business, you’ll find the “best businesses to start” right here.  Mladjenovic describes each one and what’s involved.  If none of them resonate, you can use the thought process to judge which other ideas might work for you.

Part 3: Marketing and Selling Your Micro-Business

This section is truly for the newbie.  Although, even those with some marketing experience will find a few tidbits of value here. I thought I knew a lot of blogging and marketing resources online – I was wrong.  There are a ton of great sites that will help you market your business on a low budget.  This, alone is worth the price of the book.

Part 4: Considering Taxes and Legal Issues

I think the author would say that this section is really worth the price of the book.  It probably is (and then some) because it’s loaded with tons of great financial advice that will not only save your money, but can protect you in the long run.  Mladjenovic is actually a financial and tax expert, so this section is crazy valuable.

Part 5: The Part of Tens

This is an interesting way to end the book.  Here you’ll find two chapters and one is about ten potential pitfalls and how to avoid them.  All kinds of wonderful parting words that summarize much of what you learned early in the book.  The other chapter gives you ten ways to make some quick money – and they are all legal.  Seriously though, this chapter just gives you even more resources where you can leverage your skills – even if you’re a newbie.

Great Tips for Making Money

I started this review by saying that this book isn’t for every business owner.  And that is partially true.  What makes Micro-Entrepreneurship for Dummies such a terrific resource is that it’s loaded with time-tested advice and step-by-step guidance that can add an additional revenue stream to a business you already have. Or it can launch you into a business even if you thought you could never do it.

Micro-Entrepreneurship for Dummies is an excellent resource for small business owners, entrepreneurs or entrepreneur wanna-be’s who are looking for tools, tips and resources to make money in their business.
