Did you ever stop to ask yourself if you’re an expert in your field?  I’ll bet you are – and you don’t even know it.

In fact, being an expert is actually a highly profitable career path that allows you to leverage your industry knowledge and experience in a way that helps others avoid the traps and tribulations you’ve gone through to get to your level of expertise. And it’s also a potentially profitable way to make money that you’ve probably never considered.

Turn Your Talent Into a Lucrative Revenue Stream

The Highly Paid Expert: Turn Your Passion, Skills, and Talents Into A Lucrative Career by Becoming The Go-To Authority In Your Industry by Debbie Allen (@debbieallencsp) pulls the curtain back on how the most successful consultants and coaches have built 7-figure businesses by turning their talents into a revenue stream.

This isn’t just a handbook on how to become an expert. It’s really a personal branding and marketing handbook.  If you’re a small business professional who is struggling in your chosen business because you’re not standing out from the competition, this is a book you should read and use to help your business stand out. And also to actually use what you know best to get your ideal clients to find YOU.

I received a review copy of this book and started reading it for myself.  As a so called “marketing expert” I am always looking for strategies and tactics that will help build my business and my brand.  So let’s get started on this journey of dollar discovery.

How Did Debbie Allen Become the “Expert of Experts”?

Have you ever heard of Debbie Allen?  I hadn’t.  And here, right on the cover of her book it says “Debbie Allen, The Expert of Experts.” Instantly, she has told me who she is and what she is known for.  We don’t know if this is true or to what degree any of us would agree. But you can already see that your first lesson is right on the book cover.  Debbie Allen is well branded.

Debbie’s first bit of advice is to find a niche which would be a specific market or industry.  Which is exactly what she did.  Her foundation niche was retail.  She’s built and sold successful retail stores for more than 15 years and then launched a successful speaking and consulting practice for retailers from there.

Sounds simple, doesn’t it?  For many of you reading this – it truly IS just that simple.

Since her days in retail, Debbie has expanded her range of expertise.  Allen has been a business and marketing strategist for 20 years, She is a best-selling author and award-winning entrepreneur.  Her expertise has been featured in numerous motivation movies including The Opus and she is regularly featured in Entrepreneur Magazine.  She also mentors clients from around the world on how to become highly paid experts.

Your Journey to Uncovering The Highly Paid Expert Inside YOU

There are 25 short chapters in this book and you might say that each chapter is a step in the direction of growing what you know into a revenue stream.  In fact, I would go so far as to say that this entire book is a sort of marketing plan template for experts with each chapter being a to-do-item on your checklist to becoming well known in your field.

Even though the book isn’t divided into sections, I see two distinct themes:

Chapters 1 to 8: Set the stage to convince you that you can become a highly paid expert and to prepare you of what would be involved in that process.

Chapters 8 to 25: Each of these chapters is a step on the journey to becoming a highly paid expert.  These are the to-do items or marketing plan elements that you would have to address as you move forward.

Is There Room for Just One More Expert?

One thing that might stop you from choosing to read this book or to become a highly paid expert is thinking that there are a million of them.  You would be absolutely correct.  There are lots and lots of experts out there and this is why Allen spends so much time on branding and marketing.

But here is something to consider.  There are 28 million small business owners out there and many of them are fantastic at what they do. But they are very poor at the myriad of elements that it takes to build a grow a successful business.  And that means that there is room for more experts.

If you’re already a consultant, coach or speaker, but you haven’t seen the kind of growth in your business as you would like, this would be a great book for you.  It’s practically a cut and paste marketing plan that you can follow to build a solid book of business.
