Boost Your Business with Marketing Tips Old and New

With marketing methods that are constantly changing, it can be tough keeping up. But it can also be easy to get caught up in all the trends and forget about some of the tried-and-true methods that still really work.

In this week’s Small Business Trends Community News and Information Roundup, members of the online small business community share both. You’ll find old tried-and-true techniques that have never gone out of style and newer tips that will help put your business ahead.

Read on for the full list.

Use Psychology to Improve Checkout Page Conversions

(Neil Patel)

No matter what methods of marketing you use, you always have to think like a customer. Consider what part of the process might make them feel a certain way and how that could impact their buying behavior. When it comes to online shopping, there are plenty of thoughts and emotions that could impact whether customers actually complete their purchases. So, you can actually use psychology to improve checkout page conversions, according to Neil Patel.

Just as with any type of business or marketing method, you need to be able to measure engagement. Activate Data to Engage the Right Individual

(Marketing Land)

Boost SEO by Commenting on Blogs

(Allin1Social)

Much fuss has been made about the death of the blog. And it’s true that some of the community aspects of blogging have fallen by the wayside in recent years as different social platforms have stepped in. But commenting on blogs in your niche can still be a viable strategy for improving your own blog’s SEO if done correctly. Cristina Hontanilla discusses acceptable methods for doing so.

Keep Up with Technology Trends

  1. I used to think that direct mail is no longer as effective. But it seems that there is still some benefits to it as long as it is targeted to the right market.

  2. I still believe that focusing on your target market is the best marketing tip. If you know your market, you will know how to catch their attention and how to sell your product and/or services.

  3. Thanks for mentioning our post on creating offers! I love Neil’s ideas of bringing Psychology into the mix and really getting into the mind set of your target audience. Those same concepts can be applied to content creation and every stage of the process beyond the cart. Making everything you do targeted in the right way to the people that matter the most to your bottom line in business.

  5. Hey Annie,

    Great tips!

And thanks for including Allin1Social’s tips on boosting your blog’s SEO.

For great online marketing tips, I would add the use of a social media management platform. It just saves you tons of time, cause you can manage all your social media accounts on one single dashboard, and schedule content months in advance. Getting detailed performance statistics and monitoring your competitors also gives you essential insights into your own ROI and indudstry benchmark strategies. This way you can learn what works best and improve and do even better in the future. Everyone should at least try for a while to see the huge improvement in both efficiency and performance.

I look forward to reading more similar articles from you soon.

  6. I see it as a marketing mix of old mainstream media and new social media.

  7. Annie – Very interesting references. My favorite is customer referral and word-of-mouth. No amount of advertising beats your own customers referring your business to their friends and families.
