TaurusQuest Adopts Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Solution to Secure Confidentiality of Data
NEW YORK, May 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — TaurusQuest has adopted a state of the art Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution to enhance significantly the secure handling of client data. The VDI solution has been deployed at Taurus Quest’s third delivery facility in Chennai.
In a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), the desk top user layer is virtualized in a central server eliminating the need for PCs at the desk top. In this ‘zero-client’ environment, all the software and hardware required to support desktop users are deployed in a VDI server. Computing power and data storage are held at the VDI server. Users connect to the VDI server using only user-interface devices such as keyboard, mouse and monitor. In a VDI setup, users run a virtual copy of the required software on the VDI server. Users have the option of connecting to the server using their handheld devices as well. The distinguishing feature of VDI over a traditional desktop environment is that in VDI, there is no local storage capacity at the desk of the users. This significantly reduces the probability of loss of data at the desktop.
