Today I will be attending a CIO Symposium for CIOs and senior IT executives here in Ohio. I am moderating a panel discussion on RFID (radio frequency identification) technology.
RFID is a technology growing in use, and getting a lot more attention these days. It is a technology worth watching, because it will soon affect your daily life if it does not already. Use the EZ Pass toll payment system, or the Mobil SpeedPass? Then you already use RFID.
RFID will be used in U.S. passports starting in 2006. It is already in use in a variety of business and military settings. RFID offers considerable benefits for supply chain, logistics, asset tracking, key card entry systems, and contactless credit cards issued by MasterCard, among other applications.
If you are interested in learning more about RFID, please head over to the RFID Weblog, where I am the Editor, and have a look around.
