The U.S. Postal Service offers an email newsletter for small business owners, called Virtual impact. I recently wrote a short piece for the newsletter, offering four quick marketing plays you can do online, including:
(1) Budget Wisely for Paid Search: Go for the No. 3 position for paid search terms — it’s cheaper and the results are just as good as the #1 spot.
(2) Use Inexpensive Press Releases: Press releases today are search engine plays, so be sure to distribute them online through sites such as PRWeb.com.
(3) Write from Readers’ Perspectives: Everyone tells you to write keyword-rich text for your website. But more than that you should walk in your ideal customer’s shoes and choose non-obvious keywords.
(4) Develop a House List: An email list is a great way to establish an ongoing relationship with visitors.
Also, if you haven’t been to the U.S. Postal Service website recently, you really should check it out. There is a lot you can do using the website without leaving your office. You can calculate and print postage, of course. But you can also create direct mail campaigns right from your computer. You can even find market research about using direct mail.
