Spam Karma 2 Rocks

It is Independence Day in the United States. And here at Small Business Trends we’ve declared our independence from cleaning out spam.

You’ll notice a new design for the site. It’s wider now, the header is bolder, and we’ve moved some things around.

But the biggest changes are under the hood. Tim Grahl, our webmaster, upgraded to the latest version of WordPress and installed Spam Karma 2.

And I have to give a shout out to Dr. Dave, who wrote the Spam Karma 2 plugin for WordPress. Spam Karma 2 has been installed for just a little over 24 hours. Already it has eaten 6,452 spam comments — with almost no human intervention. Previously we would have had to manually review all those spam comments. Instead, with Spam Karma, most of the spam was handled automatically and only a half dozen comments needed human moderation.

With thousands of spam comments in a day’s time, you can see what an efficiency tool Spam Karma can be. If you are still moderating all comments, give Spam Karma 2 a try.

  1. New design looks nice and clear!

(In case if you haven’t come across this) I am using Akismet to prevent from Spam and it’s a great solution implemented by Automatic (people behind WordPress). Its a free for personal blogs and only requires an API key.

  2. Anita, Thumbs up on new site. Thanks for the info on Spam Karma 2. Keep up the great work!!!

  3. I have recently just started using Spam Karma 2 and it looks to be working great. Saves you time wasted cleaning up and it’s great to not be forced to view the “trash” that arrives daily which can be vulgar in nature. I’m really pleased with it.

  5. I’ve been using the WordPress plugin for a few months now and have no complaints. I did make the mistake of leaving email notifications on and ended up with lots of Spam Karma emails. Other than that, the Spam Karma plugin was easy to install and has really made life easier.
