The short answer is: don’t hold your breath for major changes in the law before the 2008 Presidential elections.
However, there are options for keeping healthcare costs down.
Dawn Rivers Baker joined us on Small Business Trends Radio this week to discuss healthcare. She covered several important issues, including:
- The one outstanding tax benefit available to self-employed individuals — and the one tax penalty that only the self-employed have to suffer (yes, the Federal government giveth and taketh away at the same time);
- The tax treatment of health insurance premiums for small businesses with employees;
- The best candidates for health savings accounts (HSAs) — and who should stay away from them;
- Some of the healthcare proposals being made in Congress to address health costs.
Dawn also shares the one thing — the single thing — she would do about the healthcare mess if she were in Congress. You may be surprised by her answer.
