Can We Change These Numbers?

Changing font numbers cartoon
The above cartoon is another in my thankfully limited series “This Kind Of Actually Happened.”

I was selling for a smallish distributor, and showing a quote to management before sending it out.

After considerable consideration the VP leaned back in his chair, sized me up and said “Are we sure we like these numbers?” To which I replied “I suppose I could change the font.”

Insert crickets chirping here.

The good news is I got the sale, and a gag gratis, but I’m pretty sure that VP crossed me off the promotions list after that.

  1. That’s hilarious . . I love your sense of humor, Mark!

  2. Mark,

I need to have a laugh on this May Day!

What’s your favorite font? Have you seen Jack Yan’s site? http://www.jyanet.com/fonts/

  3. I had a font made out of my handwriting a few years back (saves LOADS of time with greeting card layouts), so that’s probably my fave, but I love Tahoma too.

  4. Oh, how I needed this laugh on this rainy day. I always love to see what you come up with next. 🙂

  5. Thanks Mark! I so look forward to your cartoons for the weekend.

I think we should start the week with one too – just so we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

  6. Mark, the situations that guide your cartoons are what make me laugh twice as hard. As I replay some of the things I’ve said at work, school, church, family time, unintending to be funny, but making people laugh, I think of all your situations where the cartoon is just perfect.

I wrote to a few folks this week making introductions between contacts and said — feel free to keep me in the loop, or out of it, and included your cartoon on the topic.
