Yola Celebrates 2 Million User Mark with Makeover Challenge

San Francisco, California (PRESS RELEASE – August 3, 2009) – Yola, Inc., the leading free website builder, has two reasons to celebrate: the company recently reached its two million user mark, doubling in size since announcing one million in January; and it is inviting small businesses and web designers to participate in its first ever “The Yola Makeover Challenge” contest. For this two-part challenge, Yola is seeking small business applicants who have an ineffective website, as well as web designers to provide a Yola custom web design makeover to enhance the impact of the small business’ site.

“More consumers are turning to the Internet to find goods and services, which means that Yola’s two million end users need to make sure their sites stand out in order to attract visitors,” said Vinny Lingham, CEO of Yola. “The Yola Makeover Challenge contest will illustrate the power and affordability of turning an ineffective presence into a highly successful business website. We are thrilled to be bringing our small business users together with talented designers, and rewarding both with a creative and stunning new site to showcase.”

Applications are now being accepted at http://www.yolamakeover.com/. Sites submitted for the contest will be evaluated by a group of Yola web experts, who will select one business for the makeover. Once the business is chosen, web designers, graphic artists, and Yola lovers will get a chance to build a new and improved version of that business’ site. From there, the public will vote to determine the top 10 finalists. Lastly, the owner of the selected small business website will decide the winner based on: 1) originality and quality of the design, 2) adherence to the small business owner’s design priorities, and 3) best use of Yola web design tools.

The fun doesn’t stop there because there are prizes galore for everyone! The winning designer gets $2,000. The small business owner gets a shiny new website worth $1,000. And all Twitterers who retweet the @Yola contest line (please visit the Yola Makeover URL or Twitter for details) will be entered for a chance to win two tickets to the U2 360° Tour and a Blackberry.

Yola is free and easy to use, and will continue to grow. It’s one of the most easiest website builder tools I’ve used, saves the time of getting over the first hurdle now all that’s left is advertising.
