Washington, DC (PRESS RELEASE – September 12, 2009) – SCORE “Counselors to America’s Small Business” presents the Walter H. Channing Award of Excellence to SCORE Board Director Jerry Jensen of Los Altos, Calif. Jensen receives the Channing Award for his volunteer service and leadership, strategic direction and philanthropic support of SCORE.
The Walter H. Channing Award recognizes individual volunteers for their outstanding service to SCORE. Jensen received the award at the SCORE National Leadership Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, on August 20.
Jensen joined San Jose SCORE in 1995 and continues to mentor clients. He has served as a SCORE district director and chapter chair. Currently he serves on the SCORE Board of Directors. Jensen led the development and implementation of SCORE’s client data collection system, which tracks SCORE’s face-to-face and online mentoring and workshops.
Jensen began his career while serving in the U.S. Air Force as a computer programmer and systems analyst. He has worked in computer and marketing fields for companies such as RCA Computer Systems, RCA instructional Systems and Bechtel. He also has been a consultant and small business owner.
