Detroit (PRESS RELEASE – October 25, 2009) — Michigan’s small business owners know that offering employee health coverage can help them attract and keep good employees; yet escalating health care costs are making this increasingly difficult. They need help, and they need it now.
Relief may be in sight for small companies in 23 Michigan counties. Health Alliance Plan’s new “Small Business Solutions” provides high quality health coverage with substantial cost savings for both the employer and employee. Plan designs include a novel approach to lowering costs and encouraging preventive care — paying employees and their covered dependents to see a personal care physician (PCP).
“Small business owners want affordable, flexible, innovative insurance products so they won’t have to eliminate health coverage to stay afloat or require employees to pay high premiums and out-of-pocket costs,” said Christopher Johnston, director of new business at HAP. “Our Small Business Solutions are competitively priced without skimping on benefits.”
Employers with two to fifty eligible employees can choose HMO, PPO or EPO plans from three product offerings. Johnston says the price and benefits are so attractive that more than 120 companies have already signed on.
In addition to low out-of-pocket costs ($250 individual/$500 family deductible, no coinsurance, and a $15 generic prescription drug copay), HAP’s Healthy Solutions PPO offers a refund on the first copay when members see their personal care physician within six months of enrollment. That’s a savings of up to $180 for a family of four, and they pay nothing for immunizations and other preventive screenings.
Additional Small Business Solutions product offerings include: Comprehensive Solutions offering generous benefits with no deductibles or coinsurance in-network and lower copays, and Flexible Solutions featuring additional premium saving options through deductibles, coinsurance and higher copays, as well as value-added online and customer-focused services.
HMO plans are available in Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. PPO and EPO plans are also available in these nine counties as well as Arenac, Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Huron, Iosco, Isabella, Midland, Ogemaw, Roscommon, Saginaw, Sanilac and Tuscola counties.
All of HAP’s Small Business Solutions cover preventive services and offer access to worksite wellness programs, personalized and secure online tools, disease management programs, and discounts and extras on healthy lifestyle related activities, products and services. All new members have a dedicated personal advocate for the first two years of membership.
