2009 Editor’s Choice Business Book Awards
Best Business Books of 2009 – Reader’s Choice

It’s time to vote on your favorite small business books of 2009.

For the second year in a row we are holding the Best Small Business Book Awards – Reader’s Choice.

This year the Awards are bigger and better than ever.  A total of 47 books have been nominated. And you can help choose the winners. The 10 books that get the most votes from readers like you will receive a Reader’s Choice Award.

Following are some FAQs that explain the Awards and how to vote.

What are the Awards?

The Small Business Book Awards, presented by Small Business Trends, recognize the year’s best new books for small business owners and entrepreneurs.  Small business books are usually lumped in with personal finance, investing, and other advice topics for purposes of bestseller lists and honors. They are often overshadowed by bigger niche categories. Our Awards shine the spotlight specifically on small-business books.

What are the criteria for an Award?

To be eligible for a Reader’s Choice Award, a book must be

  • relevant to entrepreneurs and those who own or work in small businesses
  • first published in 2009 (or revised during 2009)

How do I vote?

Voting is open through November 30, 2009 December 2, 2009.  Simply go over to the voting ballot that Ivana Taylor, our Book Editor, has set up.  It contains 47 books that our Editors nominated from books we’ve reviewed here throughout the year, or from suggestions from readers like you.  Voting takes just about 2 minutes — very fast!

You get to vote for up to 5 books.  You may cast your voting ballot only once.

What if my favorite book was not nominated?

You get one write-in choice, if you like.  On the voting ballot, just select the write-in option and insert the book title in the text box.

How will winners be selected?

The Question Pro software we are using for the voting ballot will automatically calculate the votes.  Any write-in choices will be tabulated by our Book Editor and QuestionPro.  The top 10 vote-getters will be the winners.  Winners will be announced on December 8, 2009.

What do winners receive?

Winners will receive recognition — and the good feeling that comes from knowing that other small businesspeople and entrepreneurs appreciate their books.

Plus it’s an honor for an author’s book just to be nominated.

  1. Staci & Ivana:

It was hard to limit the voting to only five books.

  2. How about listing all the 47 books in post? I wanted to check out the list again, but I can’t do it due to the fact that I have already voted, so I don’t have the access to the list.

  3. I vote for “The Constant Contact Guide to eMail Marketing”

    Great book!
