Caught Napping On The Job

Unleashing Bold Initiatives

I used to know this guy who was really good – at sleeping at his desk.  Seriously, he was like some sort of cubicle sleeping Jedi.

This guy had it all figured out. He’d angle his chair just so, cradle the phone in his shoulder, partially cover his face with his one hand, keep the other on his keyboard, and just nod off for an hour or so.

As a manager, I’d have been appalled.  But as a co-worker, I kind of had to admire how much work he’d put  – into not working.

Anyway, one day we took some paper, cut out some Z’s and took some quick pictures that I look back on fondly, and that inspired this cartoon.

  1. Hahaha, this is a really good one. 🙂

  2. Mark,

How about a power nap during lunch time? 🙂

  3. LOL! This one I can relate to… ^_^ I work as a customer service rep on graveyard shift and whenever I encounter a very talkative and obnoxious person on the phone who sounds like he/she might be on “rampage” mode for hours, I just assume the listening position, lean back slightly on my chair, and power nap for a few minutes! A great stress reliever! Harharhar!

Coming from a high stress industry where deadlines are always two days ago I can appreciate good naps at your desk. An hour is a little overkill but 20-30 minute catnaps can really help.

My boss used to encourage these naps since it kept the developers sharper for longer.

  5. Ha! funny stuff! I can think of a couple of people who fits the guys shoes at the desk quite nicely!
