Speakeasy Extends Free Phone Offer as More Small Businesses Switch to VoIP

Seattle (PRESS RELEASE – May 31, 2010) – Speakeasy (www.speakeasy.net), one of the nation’s leading broadband and voice services providers and a Best Buy company (NYSE:BBY), announced the extension of their free phone offer, which has successfully eliminated one of the last barriers to VoIP adoption. In March, Speakeasy began offering free Polycom SoundPoint IP 321 VoIP-enabled phones to new business customers who purchase unlimited or global Hosted Voice calling plans and have a minimum of five lines. The promotion was so successful that Speakeasy has made the decision to extend the promotion through the end of June.

“While the long-term cost savings of using VoIP were proven, we suspected some companies might have been apprehensive of making the switch because of the upfront costs,” said Bruce Chatterley, Speakeasy CEO. “Turns out our theory was right. By eliminating that last barrier to entry, we’ve had a dramatic increase in call volume from potential new customers, clearly demonstrating the desire for small businesses to implement Hosted Voice.”

According to a recent study released by CompTIA, a trade association for the global IT industry, 25 percent of small- and medium-sized businesses expect to adopt a VoIP solution this year. This promotion has clearly demonstrated its ability to accelerate that trend.

Speakeasy customer Gorilla Tango is an example of a small business who has found tremendous value in Hosted Voice. Not only has it saved 70 percent on its phone bill, but it is able to operate the business 24 hours a day in two locations without adding a lot of staff.
