Confused by Government Contracting?

Join me this Friday, November 5, 2010 in Chicago for an event designed to help you navigate the maze that government contracting seems to so many small businesses.

“Government Contracts: Victory in Procurement”  will be held at the Chicago Hyatt Regency.  I’ll be attending this event to cover the action, and also to learn more about government contracting myself. I hope to see you there (say hello if you’re going to be there!).

Government Contracts: Victory in Procurement is part of an ongoing initiative by American Express OPEN (note: a site sponsor here). The initiative aims to help small business owners learn how tap into the huge market to supply goods and services to the United States government. The government buys $500 Billion each year, and it’s not just military equipment.  You’d be surprised at the immense range of what the government buys … from construction to pool cleaning.

The event will feature representatives from the SBA, including Joseph Jordan, Administrator of Government Contracting and Business Development. SCORE.org representatives will also be there to provide counseling. Covered will be the basics of government contracting, an explanation of the GSA Schedule, and advanced techniques such as business teaming.

  1. This is sure to be a popular and helpful event, Anita. So many small business owners would love to get a contract with the government.
