NFIB Launches Media Hub to Help Small Businesses Thrive

Washington, DC (PRESS RELEASE – March 31, 2011) – The National Federation of Independent Business has launched a media hub to provide small business owners with practical advice for running their companies, and information about the activities of government that impact their ability to own, operate and grow their businesses.

The center of the operation is NFIB’s own in-house studio just minutes from Capitol Hill. From there, NFIB will produce and syndicate videos and webcasts for NFIB.com, Facebook, YouTube, Yahoo and other web portals and news sites.

“NFIB members are engaged and informed, from using new technology and media to connect with customers to making their voices heard in legislative chambers around the country,” said Mark Garzone, senior vice president of Marketing. “Giving them access to ideas and information in this format is another way we can be a valuable resource for small business – from connecting them with business experts to letting them hear from policymakers.”

Content available on the NFIB media hub will include:

  • Small Business Matters, featuring one-on-one and roundtable discussions with political leaders fighting to empower small business
  • Video content from NFIB.com Business Resource centers
  • How-to videos on management and business best practices
  • Business advice and tips on topics like credit, technology, marketing and more
  • Educational webinars

“Syndicating video across the web will make it available to our members and other small business owners where they are already ‘living’ on the Internet,” Garzone said. “By then collecting it all in a central hub on NFIB.com, we’ll offer visitors a full library of business advice and information they can use every day.”

Garzone pointed out that the media hub isn’t a one-way street.

“We want it to be a truly interactive community. While our in-house studio is a key component for producing and syndicating content, we want business owners to share the videos with colleagues, send us questions they’d like political leaders and business experts to address, and suggest ideas for highlighting their own innovative ideas and business advice,” Garzone said.
