Win a BlackBerry Playbook – Part of SMBInfluencer 2011

THE CONTEST IS NOW OVER – THANK YOU ALL FOR PARTICIPATING. OUR TWO WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY.

We’re delighted to announce a contest giveaway of two of the new BlackBerry Playbooks.  The Playbook is an exciting new compact tablet from BlackBerry.  We’re giving away two 16 GB Playbooks as part of the Small Business Influencer 2011 nominations.

About the BlackBerry Playbook

BlackBerry PlaybookThe Playbook is BlackBerry’s new tablet, released less than 2 months ago.  It is under a half-inch thick, and has a 7-inch display which CrackBerry.com says “is small enough to fit in many coat pockets, purses, handbags, etc., making it much more portable for out-of-the-home use than Apple’s iPad.”

The Playbook uses WiFi to connect to the Internet.  It is not necessary to have a BlackBerry smartphone, but if you do, there is a unique Bluetooth connection called the BlackBerry Bridge that allows you to display your BlackBerry smartphone screen on the Playbook, too.

If you’d like a shot at winning one of these hot new Playbooks, read on….

  1. Hey Anita, This really adds to the already growing excitement of the Small Business Influencer Award. I’ve tweeted a few times already, wish me luck 🙂

    • We’re really excited about it, Ileane. Thanks again for all your support — you’ve been an awesome media partner for Small Business Influencer 2011.

      Good luck to you!

      Anita

  2. Martin Lindeskog

How would you compare and contrast the Blackberry playbook with Apple’s iPad?

Could the small business influencer be an international person?

    • Hi Martin,

      To answer your questions:

The Playbook is smaller than the iPad, so it’s more portable (you can slip it into a coat pocket, a purse, etc.). It’s got a unique “gesture” style of navigation — some of the reviews have mentioned this. And you can display your BlackBerry smartphone if you have one, on the Playbook. The iPad has more apps currently, but I understand a lot more BlackBerry Playbook apps are coming — remember that the iPhone and the iPad started out with fewer apps, too, so this is not unusual.

All Influencers to be eligible for nomination must be in North America (U.S., Canada and Mexico).

Thanks very much for your enthusiastic support — really digging all your tweeting about this, Martin.

  3. You know I entered. I’ve been thinking about getting a tablet, but just can’t bring myself to pay the money. This would be the perfect solution.

    • Robert,

Good luck in the drawing! I’ve got the Playbooks in hand, having been sent them already by our sponsor, BlackBerry. They sent me one to try out, too — and they look so neat. I am a committed BlackBerry user (just upgraded from the Curve to the Torch) and can’t wait to try out the Playbook.

And thanks for your support of Small Business Influencer 2011 — it’s an initiative that Ramon Ray and I had been bandying about for over 18 months. Glad we finally got it off the ground, with BlackBerry’s support.

  4. Anita, I dont live in the US but my sister does, can I enter the drawing??? 🙂

    • Mafer, Your sister can enter the contest. We are going to send the 2 Playbooks to the 2 winners, and the winners must be in the U.S. (i.e., I will only send the Playbook to a U.S. mailing address).
