  1. I really like the style of this post!

    Great job with the videos.

As for Quickbooks, I’ve tried using it twice during the last 10 years.

It just doesn’t do it for me. It’s just not the right fit for how I think…how I work.

But, I do know tons of people that use it-and they love it!

One of the advantages of using QuickBooks, Joel, is that it’s a CPA “standard” among accountants that represent small businesses. We’re able to let our CPA log in to our QuickBooks and deliver an exported file of financial information for reconciling our books and tax preparation. We never have to fuss with file format compatibility or anything like that. It’s so easy for us as the client (and we have two businesses each with its own set of books, so it’s doubly an issue). I just don’t think I could deal with a CPA firm that wasn’t comfortable with QuickBooks. It would probably be a lot more work for us as the client.

      • That’s right!

I remember that aspect of Quickbooks.

It’s a great feature, for sure.

As I said, a lot of people that I know use it. It just wasn’t right for me at the time.

  2. Joel,

I have worked with QuickBooks since it first came out. And I have many clients that use it, but I do understand that it is not right for your needs, I have clients that use other accounting software, that works better for them.

  3. I am a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor as well as a CPA. I prefer the desktop version of QuickBooks as it is faster and has more features.

  4. QuickBooks OnLine is a Great program. I transferred all my clients to QBO and know they automatically receive weekly detailed PL’s and other important reports. The QBO payroll is also great. Thank You Intuit for making my clients happier.

We just tried the same…but were stunned by cost of payroll vs. what we can do with QB Advisor payroll per client.

What are payroll options for qb online vs regular qb…as offered by qb advisor?

We can do x amount of payroll clients as advisor but it’s not transferring to online qb per customer support…

Do we need to buy a 2nd advisor package specific to online qb for similar deal? Or is qb online just more expensive re payroll?

  6. I was surprised that the online version of quickbooks wasn’t more consistent with the desktop version. The online version is cumbersome and less flexible to use.

  7. Sure wish there were some improvements for better adjustments to an accountant to make. One specific area is the Sales Tax payments that are very difficult to reconcile.
Also there is no good chart of accounts that is tied to account numbers that we are used to.
