Wix Announces Revenue of $33.9 Million, New WixHotels

Wix Announces Revenue

Web-based cloud development platform Wix announced $33.9 million in revenue in its second quarter earnings report. The company also rolled out its latest app WixHotels specifically targeted at the small hotel industry.

The earnings represent an 82 percent increase year over year, the company reports. During  a quarterly earnings call April 6, Avishai Abrahami, Wix co-founder and CEO, revealed that the site has eclipsed 50 million registered users. The company says it has 1,019,000 premium subscribers, a 62 percent increase year over year.

In a statement released following the earnings report, Abrahami explained:

“Our exceptional growth is a direct result of our constant expansion of offerings on the Wix platform. By developing more products and solutions that cater to the needs of our users, we are providing them with the technology to easily build a professional-looking website as well as with business management capabilities that deliver a complete solution for their digital presence beyond website creation.”

The company also took the time to elaborate on WixHotels.

Wix says the app will enable small, independent hotel, motel, and bed and breakfast owners to manage the booking of their rooms online. WixHotels is designed to allow hotel owners to post room availability, rates, and then to create a reservations portal for its customers.

The company says WixHotels is integrated directly into a business’s website and will even handle billing. In the earnings call Abrahami said:

“We make it super easy for a hotel owner to build a fully-integrated reservation and booking engine onto their Wix site, including displaying room availability, details and pricing, inventory management and taking payments.”

The company also provided some comments from early adopters of the new WixHotels app. In an emailed testimonial forwarded to media sources by Wix representatives, Sunny Gandhi, General Manager of an America’s Best Value Inn franchise in Morton, Ill. said:

“WixHotels allowed us to unify our booking engine and room management directly into our Wix site. Previously we had to integrate and manage an third-party booking system. WixHotels is much easier to use, looks amazing and blends perfectly with our site design. Most of all, it’s all together now, our site and our booking engine, and we’re able to easily and seamlessly manage and grow our business from a single location online.”

Wix is a cloud-based do-it-yourself Web design platform offering both free and premium services. The company’s offerings include website templates and drag and drop design tools plus a Wix App Market with additional features. The company was founded in 2006 and has 550 employees with offices in Israel, the U.S., Brazil, Lithuania and Ukraine.

  1. When Wix first came out, I remember thinking “Another DIY site builder? Really?” There were so many of them available, I didn’t know how they would differentiate themselves. Well, I was wrong, they’ve done a great job. I really like the hotel integration tools you mentioned, I may just try it to play around with it!

  2. I have loved Wix ever since it was released. It is easy to use and you can use it to construct websites in a jiffy. I also love the themes and animations. It is nice that they are now narrowing down their niche to appeal to a particular market.
