The holidays can be an incredibly busy time for small business owners. But it’s also important to take a step back and enjoy this time of year with friends and family.
The team at Small Business Trends is no different. So we collected some photos and holiday wishes from the staff to share with you. We hope your holiday season is filled with happiness and success!
Anita Campbell, CEO and Founder:
“Small Business Trends LLC, the parent company of this site, is headquartered in the small city of Medina, Ohio, near Cleveland. The town has a pretty public square with a gazebo. The Square is surrounded by one to three-story Victorian-era buildings that are subject to strict city planning and zoning laws. The goal is to keep the storefronts looking as close as possible to how they looked when they were built. The stores were built of brick after a fire destroyed the town in 1870. In this photograph I took this past weekend, you can see the original fire house (the bright red building) at 50 Public Square, which has a stone embedded in it dating to 1878. A quarter century before Small Business Saturday, the city of Medina started holding its own holiday shopping event to encourage people to shop at the stores on the Square, the majority of which are small businesses. Called the Candlelight Walk, it takes place on the weekend before Thanksgiving. Today, Medina Public Square is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.”
Staci Wood, Chief Operations Officer:
“My Christmas tree has evolved over the years into a nature and wildlife theme and the addition of a faux fur tree skirt this year even managed to draw real live wildlife into the mix — my cat, Daniel.
If you come into my home and look closely, you’ll see that he’s taken up residence under the tree — in his new man cave for the holiday season. Merry Christmas to all!”
Leland McFarland, Chief Technology Officer, and his wife, Tabby McFarland, Staff Writer:
“Our son, Rowan McFarland, sitting in front of the Christmas tree. Merry Christmas everyone!”
Shawn Hessinger, Executive Editor, and his wife Heather Stone of BizSugar.com:
“No, this photo wasn’t taken of us decorating for the holidays. Both of us work in front of a computer screen every day. So, when the holidays roll around, you won’t find us at home. Instead, we like to get out of the office and the house, stretch our legs and do some shopping. Or you may even find us just looking at the holiday decorations at a local mall or department store. We wish you a peaceful holiday filled with love and an exciting New Year filled with endless possibilities.”
Amanda Stillwagon, Marketing Director:
“My dog Teddy finds no enjoyment whatsoever in pretending to be a reindeer. Err…happy holidays!”
Ivana Taylor, Staff Writer and Founder of DIYMarketing:
“I love this time of year because everyone you come in contact with is radiating with joy and gratitude. But deep down in the soul of every small business owner is this nagging ‘not good enough’ kind of feeling as we plan for the ‘best year ever’.”
My wish for everyone is that we know that we are not only ‘good enough’, we are perfect in every way. Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and an Abundant New Year!”
Mark O’Neill, Staff Writer:
“We put our tree up a few days back and the dog found it a novel experience, seeing a Christmas tree for the first time. He was arching his back and barking at it, as if it was an enemy needing to be vanquished.”
Annie Pilon, Staff Writer:
“My holiday season is usually filled with so many different fun traditions — baking, decorating, festive movies, and gatherings with friends and family. I hope that yours is filled with just as many great memories!”
