Talks Break Down While Name-Calling Rises

talks have broken down business cartoon

I try to be subtle in my cartoons.

There are not a lot of wacky expressions or hand-waving or assorted other craziness to sell a joke. Not to say that other cartoonists don’t use those things to their advantage and do it well, but I generally prefer a quiet approach.

Take these two, for example. The guy on the left seems okay with it, maybe even in a little ‘silver linings’ kind of manner. The woman on the right mostly seems curious and interested, but not worried or upset.

And I think that quietness helps give the surprise from ‘name-calling’ a little extra camouflage so you don’t see it coming.

It’s hard to know for sure, but that’s my preference and my theory.

  1. Name calling has become the norm especially for conversations in conferences. I guess people think it makes them look better. But I am still for talks.
