This week, Facebook announced adding improved features for For Sale Group members. The features are designed to make listing and selling items on Facebook groups easier and more efficient.
The new Sell feature can be selected by For Sale Group members when they create a post. This new feature will allow members to create a description for the item they are selling, the price, and a pickup/delivery location. After a post is made, sellers can mark the post as Available or Sold. Sellers will also be able to view a catalog of previously sold items.
Adding descriptions, prices, and locations was something many sellers were already doing. But this new feature simplifies the process. It also helps cut down on confusion. Group admins may have an easier time getting members to add the appropriate information when creating posts. The new feature will also prevent older posts from getting bumped up to the top of a feed due to buyers requesting more information.
Announcing the new feature on the official Facebook Newsroom blog, the company explained:
We will continue to introduce new features in the coming months to help people in the For Sale Group community easily connect, browse and search.
The new features announced this week won’t be available to all For Sale Groups right away. According to Facebook, full availability will be rolling out in the coming months. If you are a group admin and are interested in participating now, you can nominate your group here.

I think that this is valuable because selling on Facebook is becoming more and more prevalent. This will make it easier for sellers to show their products to their target market.
This feature makes a lot of sense. I have seen groups literally called [location here] Classifieds. Most people in the community are on Facebook, so why not have it serve that role?
How do I get this app for my group?
Please help me install the sell and discussion option on my group for all of Hamilton to participate in, on selling their new and used items.. please and thank you
I’m a fan of the ‘for sale’ and ‘sold’ tabs which are available for use in most facebook selling groups.
But what about the archived tab? How do we access that? I’d love to be able to list things for sale, and when they don’t sell, pop them in archive to spell for a while, before relaunching for sale again.
Deb”s question about the archive tab is the exact same as mine… Would love to have its purpose and ‘how to access’ it explained!

I also noticed that my items were moved to sold tab, but none one (buyer, myself, nor group administrator) did it…. So that’s a mystery that I would love some clarification on as well.
I am an Admin for a buy/sell group with membership over 2300. We recently “lost” the “hide” feature that was essential in keeping our page concise and neat…now, with this feature gone…it is a disaster. We also noted that album posts, these past few days, are causing problems. Admins cannot see the description (price, size, etc.) on the individual items and cannot delete them as we did before when sold. When we click on one of the items, it displays a full picture of it but there is a side slide of miniature pictures of the items in the album on the left.
Would appreciate a site where answers to these problems are visible to answer the questions we have on issues we are experiencing. Many requests sent to Facebook but unfortunately…heard nothing. Appreciate your feedback and if the wrong place to submit this….please delete.
