Time Travel via Daylight Saving Time

daylight saving time

I was doing a bunch of cartoons about the ‘spring forward’ time change and thought I’d double check ‘savings’ vs. ‘saving’ just to be safe. Well, lo and behold, I’d been using the apparently incorrect ‘savings’ in every cartoon.

Now listen, I know when to use ‘its’ and when to use ‘it’s,’ and I have definite opinions about the Oxford comma, but the non-plural ‘daylight saving time’ just feels wrong to me. I’ll use it — but I don’t have to be happy about it.

It’s one of those weird things you discover as a cartoonist, and it’s probably fodder for a DST cartoon for next year.
