When I come across a phrase like “specter of looming profits” a little light goes off in my head and usually a cartoon like this pops out. That’s great!
What’s not great is then doing research like: 1) Is this phrase in common enough usage? 2) Is it more commonly “specter” or “spectre?” and 3) Am I spending too much time figuring all this out to make this cartoon worth it?
The double-checking of stuff like this isn’t fun, but it’s totally necessary to make sure a cartoon is as accurate, and therefore, as funny as possible.
