MyBlogU Contest Invites You To Start a New Site

MyBlogU Contest Invites You To Start a New Site

If you have an idea for a brand new website serving a unique new niche, there’s no time like the present to get started. A contest letting participants develop a new website over six months with help from a tight-know content collaboration community may be able to help. Get more detail on registering for the contest here.

MyBlogU, an online community focusing on collaboration as a way to promote online content, is running the new “Content Zero to Blogging Hero Challenge.”

Here’s how the contest works:

Participants launch a new blog and build it for six months using MyBlogU’s community of writers and bloggers for support. Signup runs from September 5 to October 5. The earlier you enter, the better. The winner will be chosen based on their site statistics as of April 5 of next year.

Data used to choose the winner will include the number of unique monthly visitors and blog subscribers; the amount of profit generated, if any, and MyBlogU Rank points attained. The points are based on how closely participants follow the community’s sharing and crediting guidelines.

Entrants can use any blogging platform, though WordPress is recommended for its ease of use.

A panel of judges — with members still to be named — also will weigh in.

Prize for the winner will include a personal training and coaching program with MyBlogU founder Ann Smarty and her team. The group will work with the winner to double the awarded site’s traffic and subscribers.

Speaking with Small Business Trends, Smarty says that the idea of the contest came from MyBlogU’s online community.

“Really, the best thing about running a community is the fact that you are exposed to so many creative ideas,” Smarty told Small Business Trends.

As for what participants can expect to obtain from the challenge, Smarty says, “The most important thing is that they will all get a new site and all the benefits that come with it: A new source of income, a new way to brand yourself, an opportunity to enter a new niche, a great way to educate yourself.

“Starting a new site is a great self-improvement trick,” Smarty added. “For example, start a new blog on getting organized and you’ll become a better organized person yourself because you’ll learn so much about the topic by making research for the articles and talking back to people through comments and social media.”

  1. McCoy’s show is followed by Steve Deace, formerly of WHO and KXNO radio where he did political and sports shows before syndicating his show nationally.

  2. This is going to be exciting – But I don’t know what it means for a brand new niche. Does it need to be created?

    • Hi Aira,

Yes, the site must be new, started from scratch, in order to participate.

      Best,

      Ed

    • Hi Aira,

I suspect they mean a new niche to the person starting the site – not a new niche as in something no one ever wrote about before. (That would be a challenge, wouldn’t it?)

  3. It will be interesting to see how many bloggers want to start a new site. I have one I want to start working on, but since I already own the domain and have a little bit of content on it I don’t qualify. Maybe I’ll volunteer to be a judge.

  4. Excellent contest, thanks for sharing Ed,

I guess the biggest benefit of this contest is the knowledge and the learning process that the participants will get during the course of this contest. That way, every one who enters the contest will have a solid blog and plenty of knowledge to propel it forward.

Am surely looking forward to this contest, it will be fun to see the stats of the participants and how they progress every day towards a common goal,

    thanks,
    Uttoran Sen,

  5. Ann’s so right! Starting a new site has always helped me develop my skills and knowledge in a new area.

I’m taking part in the challenge, and I focused on a niche topic that I want to work on in my own life in the next year, so it works beautifully.

Building a new site without a community like MyBlogU would take much more effort in the long run. The brainstorms and interviews cut down my content creation time by a lot, so I highly recommend the challenge and the community to anyone who wants to start a new blog (or just further their current one if they don’t want to particpate in the challenge.)
