GoDaddy Develops Search Engine Visibility at the Touch of a Button


When a small business owner obtains a website, the most important aspect is the Search Engine Optimization (SEO). That’s the code embedded in the website that allows for search engines such as Google to put searchers in touch with the business that fulfills their need. But googling how to do SEO can lead to confusing jargon

As Kristen Ennis, Product Marketing Manager puts it on GoDaddy’s website: “If you search for ‘SEO my website,’ you’ll find results like ‘update your H1 and meta tags’.”

Unless you have a professional website technician on staff, this can be confusing. Many websites are designed by a friend or family member of the owner on a one time basis, so updating the SEO can be problematic.



To meet this growing need, GoDaddy Search Engine Visibility (SEV) has been developed, a wizard that uses easy to understand questions designed to determine the needs of the website owner and recommend appropriate keywords and content. The owner then chooses among the suggestions, clicks on a button and the updates are layered through out the website.

In an interview with Small Business Trends, Marek Olszewski, VP of Engineering at GoDaddy explains, “SEV decomposes what is traditionally a complicated process into a simple step-by-step wizard.”

“We do so in three main ways:

1) We help our customers with what search phrases they should target, by looking at the services they provide, as well as search volume and competition data.

2) Next, we walk through the updates needed to their website, so that it can target the chosen search phrases.

3) And finally, if the customer would like these changes to be applied automatically to their site, they can use our new re-publishing technology to do so without touching a line of code on their site.”

For those who use GoDaddy as their domain provider, there is an option providing for automatic updating of SEO updates. This is necessary as social media and search terms change with time. GoDaddy says the new service costs less than $7 a month.

GoDaddy is a domain registering and Web hosting service. It was founded in 1997 by Bob Parsons as Jomax Technologies. The company was renamed GoDaddy in 1999.

    Search engine visibility is one thing. But what about search engine indexing? Does this mean that Godaddy will help small business owners deal with this as well?
