    The list used to be much longer. But today, it is important to just focus on a few social media and make the most out of them. It is better than having your attention divided across different media.

    I think for business (and especially lead) generation purposes, there are five social media channels to consider: Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram, and Youtube.

    Facebook and Twitter are effective for both B2B and B2C businesses. YouTube was still a bit more dominant in the B2C space, but nowadays have shown tractions from B2B businesses. Instagram is obviously more prominent in the B2C space, while LinkedIn is more about B2B.

    To summarize:
    B2C: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube
    B2B: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, (to a lesser extent) YouTube

    As a marketing consultant, we have used mainly Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram both for our own agency and our clients’ businesses.

    What we did is by implementing an integrated approach in inbound marketing: we regularly publish content on our blog(s), and used the social media channels to promote these content pieces. We also utilize influencers, especially for our B2C clients (Instagram Influencers). The success rate vary depending on many different factors, but our most successful case was with our photographer client. Through our Instagram Influencer campaign, we gained an increase of 50% on bookings and inquiries during the campaign.
