Staples Offers Business Customers New Services Through Managed by Q in Four Major Cities

Managed by Q and Staples Partner to Offer Office Services to Business Customers in Four Major Cities

Staples (NASDAQ: SPLS) has entered into a strategic partnership [1] with Managed by Q, a web-based business services company.

New York-based Managed by Q provides a platform for businesses to hire, communicate with, pay and review providers of over 100 different services. Some of these services include IT support, cleaners and even workplace Yoga.

The partnership will enable Staples to offer business customers a one-stop shop for everything an office manager needs. It will also include services new to Staples.

Starting the first quarter of 2017, customers in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco will have access to Managed by Q’s suite of office services. There are plans to expand to other cities over time.

“Partnering with Managed by Q directly supports Staples’ previously announced strategy to focus on providing mid-market customers even more products and services beyond traditional office supplies,” said Neil Ringel, executive vice president of Staples Business Advantage. “Office managers at mid-market companies are constantly looking for ways to streamline their workday and save time, and we’ve now made it easy for them to keep their workplace running by giving them one place to interact with their office management vendors.”

For Staples, the partnership is yet another step towards addressing office managers’ challenges. The company earlier announced [2] the launch of a digital Easy Button for ordering and customer service as well as a record storage and cloud management offering [3].

The move also highlights Staples’ growing focus on servicing small and medium sized businesses. During its Q2 2016 earnings call, Shira Goodman, interim CEO of Staples revealed [4] half of the company’s sales come from categories beyond office supplies. Goodman believes Staples has the expertise in the adjacent categories to expand its share of wallet with customers.
