Waiting for a Sign?

Sign from God Cartoon

I don’t often do cartoons with speech or thought bubbles, opting instead for a single caption underneath. But every so often something creeps into my brain and I’m forced to break out of my comfort zone a bit.

This one came about after hearing someone talking about “waiting for a sign” to help decide what to do next. It appeared in my head fully formed and made me laugh out loud to myself, so I knew I had something. But then I was forced to draw it.

There’s actually more going on here than you’d expect. You have to make sure the cartoon reads visually left to right, the text must be large enough to read comfortably, the fonts must look different but related, and I had to draw a car (which I totally hate doing).

But in the end it still makes me laugh to myself when I see it, so I’m glad I pushed myself a bit.
