  1. It is tough. Recordkeeping involves a lot of administrative work. But it must be done. Hire an administrative employee if needed.

    • Hi Francis, these requirements apply to smaller businesses as well as larger businesses, although in some cases the requirements may apply to businesses with a certain number of employees.

      One example of a size limitation is the OSHA injury recordkeeping requirement which applies only to businesses that had at least 11 employees at some point in the last year. Do keep in mind, however, that there are other aspects of OSHA that employers still must comply with regardless of size (unless the industry is specifically exempt, such as a family farm that only employs family members).

      Other legal requirements such as I9 recordkeeping, apply to ALL employers regardless of size.

      It depends on the law / regulation.
