Top 25 Most Influential Business Blogging Authorities

A colleague sent me a link to a report showing that Small Business Trends has been named as one of the Top 25 most influential authorities on business blogging. It shows my old smallbusinesses.blogspot.com URL, which is why I missed it when it first came out. The report, completed by Onalytica, can be downloaded here. PDF report here.

It is an honor to be included with the likes of the New York Times, the Washington Post, the General Motors blogs and the other luminaries on the list.

Business Blogging Authorities

The methodology behind this study is interesting. According to the author, Flemming Madsen of Onalytica, it has to do with whether others refer to you in the context of business blogging. It also depends on the authority of those making the references to you.

It’s all the more interesting because blogging is a topic I write about sparingly. I often pass up blogging stories, because I prefer to cover a wider range of business issues. When I do write about blogging, usually it is in the context of blogging trends affecting small businesses.

I used to review business blogs in something called the PowerBlog Review series. That’s a series of reviews of 86 small business blogs conducted once a week for nearly two years. I started the series in early 2004 when blogging was just starting to gain a little momentum among small businesses. I saw blogging as an important trend and used the PowerBlog Reviews as a hands-on method for tracking the blogging trend. I met a lot of bloggers through the series. But alas — all good things must one day come to an end, and last autumn I retired the series.

In case you missed it, you can find a list of the PowerBlog Review archives here.

    Anita,

This is wonderful for you and a big reason why I am one of many who visit this blog.

I’m inundated with projects but return here at least once a week to get a healthy dose of inspiration.

    I wish you continued success.
