Millions of people have food allergies and gluten-intolerance, which is likely a contributing factor to this industry’s growing prominence. The public is also increasingly wary about chemicals and hormones in their food.

So what does this industry offer would-be business owners? Many companies are now producing gluten-free products; even the Girl Scouts added a gluten-free offering to their line of cookies.

With so many specialty products already available, it might be more profitable for entrepreneurs to invest in side industries that support the health food industry. You could become a provider of local, gluten-free ingredients, a retailer that specializes in health food or a marketing consulting firm that focuses on helping organic grocers market their products.

In fact, a recent report predicts that by 2017, the mobile health market will reach a full half of mobile users, which comprises billions of people.

Another up-and-coming area of app development is business-related apps.  Mobile apps can help businesses streamline processes and improve employee productivity.   1. I agree on the Health Food one. I found a business that made it big by just selling Chia Seeds. With more and more people getting extra conscious about their health, it will follow that health food demand will also be on the rise. The only weird thing about it is that the sale of health food is on the rise but the general population is not really becoming healthier.

    • Eating chia seeds once in a while when most of the time you gorge on fast food is like standing in a hail of machine gun bullets with a rain coat. The rain coat offers protection, but just not enough. We have to get radical about our diets now because the standard american diet (SAD) – now exported around the world – is in fact a radical departure from anything people have ever eaten in the last million years. Historically people have rarely eaten more than 3 or 4 ingredients per day. Now it’s 100’s. That is confusing to the body. Just for a start.
