Money making inspiration cartoon

When I write cartoons I often use a small legal notepad and jot down phrases, words, anything that comes to mind. Once I have a largish selection of ideas, I work on creating gags from them.

I turn my original ideas over and over in my head looking at them from all directions until something pops for me. Which is how the above cartoon came to be, except there was an odd twist.

I remember I’d written “numbers speak for themselves” at the top of the page and I was working on speech gags (mimes, telephones, talking dogs) for a while when I noticed at the bottom of the page “unavailable for comment.” The “a-ha!” moment happened, I drew arrows connecting the phrases and put the sheet it my idea box.
