Providing The Direction Needed

Video games work ethic cartoon

I have a bag of tricks I dip into when writing my cartoons.  One of them is searching the paper for buzzwords or catchphrases.  Another is, when I’m stuck, anthropomorphize something.  (I want credit for spelling that correctly the first time I typed it.)

This cartoon came out of a particularly grueling writing session where I used pretty much every technique and trick I’ve ever learned to squeeze three cartoons out after about two hours.

I’d read “provide the direction we’ve been needing” in the business section and had jotted it down.  After some time I looked to the animal kingdom for something that really needed direction and, Houston, we have a cartoon.

Sometimes you just have to sweat it out.

  1. Cute! I love animals so I think they always add something special to videos, pics, etc.

  2. This one made me laugh, Mark. Good job. I’d like to hear more about how you sell your cartoons, how you market, how you encourage referrals. I think you have your site set up so you can order directly off the web, right?

  3. Mark,

Where should I send the “credit”? Now try to say it in Swedish: “förmänskliga”! 😉

The Swedish telecom company, Tele2, has commercials with a black sheep, talking about “sheep” (i.e. cheap) prices…

  4. Thanks for the good laugh! I like the way you design your cartoons, very smart and unique, it stands out amongst the rest!
