Radio Interview with SBA Head — Not to Miss!

I just finished pre-recording today’s Small Business Trends Radio program on Voice America. I am so excited that I had to write about it immediately.

My special guest — one that you do not want to miss — is Hector Barreto, Director of the U. S. Small Business Administration.

In addition to being very knowledgeable, Director Barreto is also a regular guy. You will understand what I mean when you hear the show. He sounds just like someone you might know and want to have a conversation with.

As you will hear in the interview, the SBA is about more than loans. It provides free training to entrepreneurs. It also oversees aspects of contracting with the Federal government.

Some of the things Director Barreto talks about in the show:

  • how the SBA got started back in the 1950s
  • what the face of small business in the U.S. looks like today
  • how the face of small business has changed over the years, and how we can expect to see it change in the future
  • the impact of minorities and immigration on small business
  • Business Matchmaking, a special SBA program designed to help small businesses whose customer base has been hit due to Hurrican Katrina

My interview with Director Barreto occurs in the second half of the show, starting at about 1:30 PM Eastern time today. In the first half of the show I give an in-depth look at four trends that will impact small businesses in 2006.
