When a Background Check Is Not Needed …

Background check business cartoon

Lots of cartoonists tend to doodle and write at the same time to get their ideas. Not me.

My cartooning process goes like this:

1) Stare out window until ideas come.
2) Write ideas down on slips of paper, put in box.
3) Pull ideas from box, draw, rinse repeat.

But the above cartoon came very differently. I was doodling while chatting on the phone. All kinds of goofy art eventually filled the scrap of paper, but an office scene with a halo caught my eye. It just looked like it really needed a gag. So, after the call, I set my head on coming up with a joke to go with it.

It took a while to coax out, but I’m pleased with the end result. And sometimes it’s good to give my head a little workout.
